5 common investment mistakes young investors make!

Image
Investing is a skill and needs to be learnt. People who start early have the advantage. At a young age one usually has a greater risk taking appetite and can afford mistakes. They are in a position where they can recover the money lost due to erroneous investments. Like in any skill set, mastery in investing comes in through knowledge, discipline and targeted practice. Setting financial goals are the first step for a disciplined investment pattern. Many of us have goals, but not everyone is able to achieve them. When it comes to building huge corpus or retiring early or building a huge asset pool, it can come in either through pompous income or strategic investments. While the first is not easily applicable to all particularly for the salaried class, the latter is a powerful resort at hand for all. Investment without any strategy or wrong strategy may often lead into debt traps and poor returns. Often people in their twenties tend to procrastinate their investments and...

Self Discipline: The Secret to Success is Revealed

Image
Imagine a car, a sleek, stylish formula one car with a powerful engine but without a steering wheel. This car may have immense potential, it may be the best featured of all the cars gearing up for a race. But without a steering, all the potential is a waste as the car would never get a direction and hence never reach the finish mark. If this car has to race, there must be a steering installed first. Without a steering if the one races in this car, definitely the car would meet with an accident causing damage to itself and may be to others. Same is the case with people. One may be the most creative, the most scholarly, the best actor, the best speaker or simply putting it, the most talented person around. But if there is no discipline to steer the talent, to tap into the immense potential, one can never win the race. Discipline needs to be inculcated first for one to be successful in life. If one fails to do so, all the talent is a waste and when such people look behind, th...

THE KNIGHT, QUEEN AND PAWNS OF LIFE

Image
More often than rarely we start complaining about everything. And no one knows us better than we ourselves, often it so happens that one gets aware of the changes in the thoughts of oneself first. But the problem lies in the fact that though we recognized what our problem is, we hardly know how to deal with it. Life is like a chess game. We start off with all our pieces, try our best to play and beat the other guy. Putting in a lot of effort to ensure that our moves are correct and we play safe and strategize for everything, trying to figure out and guess the next couple of moves of the opponent. Also, we often have our favourite pieces in the game (mine, for example, is the knight). Then there are the strongest pieces (the ones that help us make the ace moves and subdue the opponent more efficiently) which for me is the queen. Then there are the disposable pawns the loss of which never bothers us. However, we forget that if properly harnessed, a pawn can turn out t...

The Warrior – VIII

With immense effort his head he did raise And at the sword lying near he did gaze In challenges, by their stand are men known And he had among men, the warrior’s reputation always borne. The armour of the princess’ love may have worned But he still had his loyal sword. His love for her would be his shield It is not with this ease that he shall yield Summoning all the strength that in him remain Up he rose enduring all the pain “In your denial my love, I shall burn Till the day you return.” “Your death is eminent”, laughed destiny from above “Being a warrior you chose to love! She will not return to thee You her companion can never be…” With fierceness the warrior said, “Of woman was not born me A warrior is what I chose to be! Try as hard as you might The man against fate shall his last battle fight…”

The Warrior – VII

“But your friend in me shall not die Even though with him the knots I may tie Just pest me not by seeking in me the love of thy For I shall not be yours no matter how much you try.” “Respect of self you have not The time spent with you I have long forgot Call me a betrayer if you so desire But I have long set our love on pyre.” Her words echoed in the warrior’s head Down on the floor he laid – a soldier dead He wished he could cry, yell and shout His pain and grief spill out. His armour was not so bold That the sharp blows of her words would hold Pierced they right through the warrior’s heart And he lay dying of princess’ love dearth He had lost the war he thought For preserving his love that he fought But he was a warrior in every breath Nothing must stop him but death

The Warrior – VI

Across the house he limped around, But nowhere was his “little poetry” found. All that he could see Was a letter answering his eyes’ plea! “You made me suffer You made me cry You broke my trust You broke my pride You deserted me You stole my innocence You brought between us the distance No matter how hard you try I shall no more be yours till the day I die.” His blood ran cold His wounds he could feel no more His legs could no longer hold And thus the warrior fell on the floor. “I have a new companion found To answer you I am no longer bound He was there when you were not I like him and he loves me a lot.” “He has traits I saw in none before, He has touched my heart’s core I feel for him and care To talk of you and me anymore, you better not dare.”

The Warrior – V

But a warrior in a war he was Fighting for his love cause He couldn’t fall weak Not when he was so near to what he seek No letters followed. The warrior was soon with victory hallowed. “Many a sun have passed”, he to himself said And rushed to his princess with the news of his conquest. Bleeding he was, his wounds still fresh. But his heart was waiting to his princess address All the pain would erase When she would in her arms embrace! He could now look into her captive lustrous eyes Reinforcing and strengthening their love ties; With love would he seek her forgiveness For leading her into distress. Opening the doors to their abode He stood there with the support of his sword. “Ï have come home my little poetry” But the silence that replied was eerie.

The Warrior – IV

But the battle grew intense And now the shadows clouded the princess’ mind dense. Many a sun passed Not long did the princess’ trust last. The warrior was her pride… She had dreamt to be his bride… But clouded by the shadows she thought The warrior had her forgot Many a letters she wrote to him Expecting hope’s slightest glim. But the warrior could give none Unless with the war he was done. Heartbroken she wept and wailed in distress Craving for the warrior’s congress Wrote letter she one more Before she would sail off the shore. On the battle field his body bled Off it his heart… Of the princess’ distress when he read He wished to tear the shadows apart…

The Warrior – III

One night seeing terrible pain in the princess’ shiny big eyes From within the warrior came intense guilt cries. His eyes finally open and his conscience shaken The warrior’s decision was taken. “I am a warrior”, he thought And looked at his armour and sword long forgot! Another war need to be fought For to his princess he had to prove his worth. “You must let me go”, he said Avoiding her eyes which for his stay begged Those eyes could sway him, he knew And he must go before his love’s resistance grew. He wore his armour, sharpened his sword Reined his horses and towards the darkness rode. This war was not meant for him to die No matter how hard the shadows would try. The princess’ love was his armour And loyalty was his sword. With determination in heart, towards his enemy he did run And made a quiet promise to return before the morning sun.

The Warrior – II

But destiny had her own plans And looked at them with an evil glance Not long did the warrior’s smiles last Before she unleashed the shadows of the past. The shadows were masters of deception And powerful beyond the warrior’s perception While in the arms of his princess he slept peacefully The shadows worked their way in skilfully. Before the warrior could even realise They slowly poisoned his wise… The princess however could sense The darkness getting dense… She expressed her concern when… The warrior dismissed her worries then… She trusted and loved the warrior great And hence decided not to doubt on her mate. Some more time passed by He noticed, she would often quietly cry; The reason he failed to know Unaware of the seeds the shadows did sow.

The Warrior – I

The war took a lot from him… a lot But her love is what he finally got. What more did he need – nothing And so with all the love in his soul, to the princess he did cling. Together they built their utopian home Holding hands on the roads they did roam High on the wine of love and romance They happily in the garden did dance. Happy and content they were For pure and gratifying was the love they did share Complete felt the warrior in her arms Fulfilled felt the princess in his… The war wounds did no longer hurt For he had finally got, what his sufferings were worth. Down his guard he did let His armour and sword aside he did set Them he would need no more A happy life ahead he felt was in store.

STORY

Image
I wish to have a story, Tomorrow to tell. If not of high soaring glory, Then how and why I so badly fell. The path that I will to take Is unknown and insecure, But what great thing did security ever make... And what did the known ever have for any to lure? My words symbolized my will And my actions - my cowardice. But I feel it's not too late still To escape out of an utopia of lies. I murdered my dreams each moment And like a phoenix, from its own ash, every time , it did rise. But to please others my days were spent And my nights in muffled cries... Now I wish to have a story, Tomorrow to tell. If not of high soaring glory, Then how and why I so badly fell.

The Golden Bird Shall Fly Again...

Image
She has faced lots of sorrows and pain But the Golden Bird shall fly again Into the infinite skies of glory, She will soar high on the path of peace and hamony. She has lost enough And there is nothing more to lose, Only one way is left Which she needs to choose. When efforts of a billion will synchronise Against all that everyone did criticize Like the immortal phoenix, she will soar high And lead all those who laughed , while she did cry. Spreading her wide amber wings to break all bondages She will shed all her burden of ages,  And fulfill the ever lasting expectation  Of being the world's greatest nation. Where all negative things shall come to an end And enemies shall transform into friends And there shall be no sorrow or pain When the Golden Bird will fly again. When the sun would rise every dawn, There shall be nothing to improve  upon, Where peace, harmony and joy would flow in the form of streams To make...

Dream...

Image
Not the saint's holy bliss, Nor all the world's wealth to kiss Nor the heart of a spotless dove But only you and your love. Your arms in a fond warm embrace Your red wet lips against my face Your soft white flesh and your hair strands enmesh That heavenly smile does lure A thousand feelings in me unfold pure Those seductive eyes, lit with passionate fire Every bit of you make up my wild desire. You could mean so much to me, I never knew All my life I shall be waiting for you Way too divine But you are a dream; a dream of mine.
